Editing Our Music Video

In today's lesson, we continued editing our music video. Andy showed me how to use the programme, 'Final cut', and then i was able to edit several clips, using short cuts, such as 'I' for the beginning of the clip, and 'O' for the ending of the clip that i want.

After i had made three clips, i added them into the timeline, into the beginning of the music video, making sure that the beat of the music, and the transition complimented with each other.

For homework intodays lesson, we decided to plan our next possiable time when we are able to re shoot certain parts of the music video.

Timeline

Today we added the song into our project, and began to edit some of the shots that we were including into our video. We cut some of the beginning shots and got a couple of seconds of footage.

Uploading 2

Today we continued uploading our footage. Whilst watching the footage upload, I continued to amend the storyboards, re number them and then stick them back into order so that the planning was up to date, and coherent.

After we had uploaded all of our footage, we discovered a problem with the programme, there was a technical fault with the saving, so we had to loose our footage we upload, however the lesson wasn’t a waste of time, as we were able to identify what needed re filming, and identify why.

Uploading

Today we began to upload our footage. We managed to upload one and a half tape worth of stuff, using the programme; ‘final cut’, watching the footage upload was exciting as we were able to watch what we had previously filmed. Whilst uploading we made a list of what went well and what could have been even better if we had changed things whilst making the footage. The list we concluded was: cut the shots that other cameras can be seen in, shorten the length of each shot, use extra stage, use proper drum sticks, re shoot the singing, and that the lighting was extremely affective.

Successful filming

After having the problems with the original issues with the first idea that we had planned and story boarded, today we began to re shoot the sections that needed to be sorted. We used a drama room that had black decoration that we used to set up our stage, and act as the performance area. We managed to shoot the shots pf the band playing, and we were fortunate enough to use the lighting that was available. By using the technical effect it’s we have, such as the lighting, we were able to make our video fit our genre enough more.
The members of the band wore blacks, and reds, all to tie in the set design, and the ‘image’ of the band.
When we begun filming we decided to use four cameras with, four different tapes, placing the cameras at different angles and levels. This therefore ensured us to get enough footage for us to be able to play around with, using different techniques and effects. Also each group member tried out the new gadget, a fig rig, with this we were able to get close up and use different abstract angles.

Storyboarding

After annotating the lyrics, we came up with story's/ shots that work well with the lyrics.

I feel some of the key shots within the storyboard are those that are telling the story throughout the woods, with the injections. I think these are some of the most important as it is a main bulk and majority of the music video. It helps the flow of the music video and adds depth and a storyline the video.
